Hide personal information or blur faces very easily before sharing photos in the instant messaging app.
Like millions of people, chances are you use WhatsApp daily to communicate with your loved ones. The messaging application, owned by Meta (formerly Facebook), has for several years become essential for sending messages to loved ones, to the detriment of native SMS applications, both on iOS and Android. This success, WhatsApp probably owes it to the many features it embeds.
The instant messaging application can indeed do much more than send simple messages. Over the past few years and months, Meta has worked hard to provide even more options in WhatsApp: group audio and video calls, ephemeral messages, use from a PC, and much more.
On iOS, WhatsApp even includes a function to blur sensitive information or faces on the images you share (the option should arrive soon on Android). Here’s how to use it.

1. Insert an image in a message
Open WhatsApp and go to one of your conversations. Press the + button to access your photo library and select the image you want to share in your message.

2. Open the image editor
Once the image is selected and ready to send, tap the pencil icon at the top right of the screen to open the editor.

At the bottom of the rolling swatch, select the area made up of small squares similar to a multicolored checkerboard. You can be sure of its correct selection when the pencil icon in turn takes on the checkerboard.

3. Blur the elements
With your fingertip, “pencil” the areas of the image you want to hide. Feel free to zoom into the image using two fingers so you can apply your blur effect more precisely.
Blurring using a mosaic effect should then apply where you color the image with your fingertip.

When all the elements to be concealed are correctly blurred, press the blue button to send your message and share your image.
