The messaging app has just been updated and now allows you to configure a different wallpaper for each of your conversations. Here’s how to do it.
Does the wallpaper of your WhatsApp conversations seem a bit bland? While it was previously possible to change it, you can now customize it individually in each of your conversations.
In its latest update, the application indeed offers this possibility and provides an updated wallpaper gallery. Even better, you can set up a different background, depending on whether you are using dark mode or light mode on your smartphone.

1. Update WhatsApp
If you haven’t already, update the app on your smartphone first. As of this writing, the option to customize the wallpaper individually in conversations is only available on iOS.

2. Customize the wallpaper for all conversations
WhatsApp offers two possibilities to customize the background of your conversations. If you want to customize the background for all conversations, go to the settings of the application, then in Discussions, enter the section dedicated to Wallpapers.
You will be able to choose a wallpaper in the galleries for a dark or light mode, solid colors or go directly to the images in your film roll.
Note that it will also be possible to adjust the brightness of the selected wallpaper for all your conversations. And if you still want to go back, pressing the Reset button will be enough to put things back in order.
3. Customize the wallpaper individually for each conversation
The second possibility offered by WhatsApp to customize the background of your conversations is to do it individually for each discussion. This is the big news of the last update of the application.
To customize the wallpaper of a conversation, enter it and press the name of your correspondent or the conversation to access the options.
Then enter the Wallpaper and sound menu to Choose a new wallpaper. Here again you can explore the wallpaper galleries for a Light or Dark mode, or opt for a solid color background or an image taken from your filmstrip.
Repeat with a different image for each conversation for which you want to display a custom background.
