When car type names were still cool

NIO ET7, Volkswagen ID3, 4 or 5, the type names for cars are not exactly getting any more exciting. What were really cool type names in the past? We think these are the seven toughest type names.

Buick Roadmaster

Jensen Interceptors

There’s no escaping it: the Interceptor (‘interceptor’) can always track you down. It is not for nothing that it is the (nick) name of the pursuit cars of the American police.

Dodge Charger

Dodge has patented cool type names: Challenger, Magnum, Demon, Stealth, Nitro, Daytona … and of course Charger. Although that name suddenly takes on a completely different meaning in the current Tesla era.

The small convertible is named after the most famous British fighter plane of the Second World War. Just plain cool.

Ford Thunderbird

For the Indians, the mythical thunderbird is the symbol of strength. Ford decided in 1954 to name the car after it that had to compete against the Chevrolet Corvette.

Lamborghini Diablo

Lamborghini also has a fine tradition of spectacular type names. The cars are usually named after a fighting bull(s). Diablo was not only a bull, but also means ‘devil’ in Spanish – for an extra bit of coolness.
