When did men first shave their beards?

If all men had beards, wouldn’t you have noticed? And what was the purpose of that act?

Asker: genoveva, 46 years

Answer

Epilation has been around for a long time, the first razors arose in the Bronze Age (3000 BC).

It became popular in Ancient Egypt, mainly for hygienic and aesthetic reasons. According to one of the first proponents of shaving, Alexander the Great, it also gave the enemy less grip during combat (!).
