With the popular chat service WhatsApp it is possible to create groups with a maximum of 1024 members. In such groups, in principle all members are allowed to send messages, but you also have the option to set that only the administrator can send messages.
This helps minimize chaos and makes it easy for the administrator to quickly share information with the other members. This is particularly useful for informational groups, such as those with work news, or for classes where only the teacher can send messages to parents and students.
Create WhatsApp group
Creating a new group in WhatsApp is very simple: Open the app, go to the ‘ tabChats‘, tap the plus button and select ‘New group‘. Add members from your contact list or search for them by their phone number and follow the onscreen instructions. Send messages for administrators only
- Open as group manager the group conversation in WhatsApp
- Tap the name of the group
- Select ‘Group permissions‘
- Enable the option ‘Send new messages‘ out
From now on it is only possible for administrators in this group to send messages; the other members can only read the conversation. This is useful when the group is primarily intended as an informational resource rather than for chit-chat.
Do you also want only group administrators to be able to add new members? Then set the option ‘Add other members‘ out. This also applies to ‘Edit group settings‘; Disable this option if you want only group admins to be able to change the name, image, description, disappearing chat messages, and more for the group.
Change administrators
Group members can be given permission to become administrators of the group. They can then add new members and change things related to the group and permissions. The group administrator can make a group member an administrator via WhatsApp â–¸ Open the group conversation â–¸ Tap the name of the group â–¸ Scroll down to the members â–¸ tap the member you want to make an administrator â–¸ Choose ‘Make group manager‘.
