When should you have summer tires fitted?

After the cold winter it is wonderful to feel spring coming again. Good news, so no more frozen windshields and cold interiors every morning when you go to work by car. The return of sunny days also means that you can (have) fitted the summer tires. When is the best time for that?

Fitting summer tires: the temperature is leading

There are no precise rules regarding the fitting of winter tires. After all, they are not mandatory in our country. They are often highly recommended and if you go to winter sports, you often need them. Winter tires are especially suitable for driving on snow and ice and offer optimal grip at low temperatures. However, winter tires are not suitable if the temperature is too high. In general, we recommend refitting your summer tires at the beginning of spring, when the temperature is regularly above 7°C and around 10°C. When in doubt, rely on the transition to daylight saving time, which will take place on the night of March 26-27, 2022 this year. After this date you can change tires without a doubt!

Tips when changing winter tires

We have collected several tips about tires. It is good to keep the following points in mind:

• Are you still going to winter sports? Before changing your winter tires, check whether you still need to use winter tires at your destination or on the way there.
• Tip: when you store winter tires, check the profile. Then you know for sure that you can drive with good tires in the autumn.
• Inflate the summer tires to the correct pressure and check the tire pressure again after a short ride.
