Many computer users regularly download a file from the Internet. The file is automatically saved to the computer. But where?
Find downloads on a Windows PC
By default, a Windows computer saves downloaded files in the “Downloads” folder. Open the folder through File Explorer. Handy to view, move or delete a downloaded file again.
- Open the File Explorer via the ‘Explorer’ icon on the Taskbar or with the Windows key+E key combination.
- Click in the left menu This PC.
- Double click on the folder Downloads.
- An overview of all downloaded files opens. Double click on a file to open it.
Moving or deleting files from this folder works the same as in other folders in File Explorer.
Find downloads on a Mac
By default, the Mac saves downloaded files in the Downloads folder. Open the folder in the Finder to find, move, or delete a downloaded file again. Follow the steps below for a Mac with macOS 10.14 Mojave or later:
- In the Dock, click the Finder icon .
- Click in the left menu Downloads.
- An overview of all downloaded files opens. Double click on a file to open it.
Moving or deleting files from this folder works the same as in other folders in the Finder.
