If you don’t tolerate coffee well, you often need other vocalists. Are energy drinks or teas real alternatives? What speaks against coffee at all – and what helps instead to wake up through the day?
Anyone who sits at the desk throughout the day probably knows this: in the afternoon the energy decreases and the tiredness is coming. For many, at the latest, the time at which they drink a coffee is at the latest to get fitter again. However, it is not good for everyone to drink coffee. In this article you read why this is so and why green tea can be a better alternative.
In front of and disadvantages of coffee
Three to four cups of coffee in medium strength per day, in an average of large cup, are considered justifiable – and possibly even beneficial. Everything beyond is less healthy, because: coffee can have both advantages and disadvantages.
When you shouldn’t drink coffee
The dose makes the poison. A lot of more than 400 milligrams of caffeine per day is considered to be healthy and can lead to racing heart, nervousness, excitability, insomnia and sweats. That is usually about four to five cups a day.
If you feel like you need more than three to four cups of coffee to have enough energy for the day, you should better reduce your consumption or even stop drinking coffee for a while.
Important: People react different sensitively to caffeine: depending on how caffeine sensitive you are or how your stomach reacts to coffee, coffee can have a negative effect after a cup. Therefore: pay attention to you and your body. If you are often not doing well after drinking coffee, you are one of the people who shouldn’t drink coffee.
You should also keep an eye on your caffeine consumption when taking certain medication. If in doubt, move in medical advice.
Those who drink coffee very irregularly, their blood pressure increases more after consumption than with regular coffee drinkers: inside. With regular consumption, you usually don’t have to worry about blood pressure.
By the way: You shouldn’t drink your coffee too hot. There are clear indications that very hot drinks (over 65 ° C) can increase the risk of esophageal cancer.
Advantages of coffee
A moderate or occasional coffee consumption also has potential advantages: it can protect the body from diseases, for example from certain types of cancer such as liver cancer or cardiovascular diseases. Thanks to the bitter substances it contains, it is also good for digestion: because these fabrics stimulate the liver for bile production.
According to the Federal Center for Nutrition (BZFE), coffee consumption is even more common with positive than negative effects on health: the likelihood of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, gout and the risk of cancer is lower for people who drink coffee. In addition, with regular coffee consumption, liver diseases such as liver cirrhosis occur less frequently and there is a positive impact on Parkinson’s, depression and Alzheimer’s.
It is interesting that some positive effects can be observed even with decaffeinated coffee. So if you do without the negative effects of caffeine and still want to benefit from the health -promoting effects, caffeine -free coffee could be an alternative for you.
For some people, drinking coffee is simply a joy and a ritual. You should avoid instant coffee: it often contains sugar and roasting fabrics. You should also refrain from coffee with milk and sugar, because it is more of a meal than a drink.
Energy drinks as an alternative?
At first glance, energy drinks may look like an alternative for people who do not want to drink coffee or tolerate. But they contain a lot of sugar: a large can (0.5 liters) contains 50 to 60 grams of sugar. If you drink such a can a day, you have already recorded the maximum recommended amount of sugar per day. There are also sugar -free alternatives, but the sugar substitutes and sweeteners added to the sweet ones have other health risks.
In addition to sugar, energy drinks contain many additives and caffeine: Many of the drinks contain the legally approved maximum amount of caffeine of 32 milligrams per 100 milliliters. Already from a content of 15 milligrams per 100 milliliters, a warning must be on the packaging. The BFR warns of excessive consumption of energy drinks and the consumer advice centers even call for a ban on sales for minors.
Green tea instead of coffee?
A better choice is green tea. It contains many valuable secondary plant substances and antioxidants that do not occur in coffee. These could protect against vascular diseases, and researchers also suspect: Inside, green tea reduces the risk of arthritis, according to the doctor Anne Fleck in a time interview.
However, it is not comparable to the effect of coffee, because it is demonstrably not awake so quickly. The effect lasts longer than with coffee. Fleck therefore recommends not drinking green and black tea too late a day.
