Why is Edox the brand for Swiss diving watches?

60 years of knowledge and experience in the depths of the sea

In 1961, Edox launched the Delphin diving watch. The very first diving watch with a double case back, special protective gaskets and an innovative double O-ring that guaranteed an unprecedented 300 meters of water resistance. Edox set the tone for Swiss diving watches.

The crown with double gasket for greater water resistance, patented by Edox at the time, is still used today, almost 60 years later, by several major Swiss watch brands. And by Edox itself of course. Not only in the well-known series of Delfin watches, but in all Edox diving watches.

Edox watches have ‘Savoir Faire’

Edox’s strength lies in bringing together function and design. In other words: achieving perfection in every detail. They call it ‘Savoir Faire’. Firmly rooted in tradition, but always progressive. You can see that in the entire collection, but especially in the special new automatic diving watches with which Edox proves in 2020 that it is still a master in combining construction and appearance.

Delfin Mecano – A striking appearance

With the new Delfin Mecano, Edox gives a modern twist to its legendary predecessor. The skeletonized dial reveals the automatic caliber 853 movement with 42 hours of power reserve, making this watch a striking appearance.

The 43 mm watch has a 12-sided case edge that reflects the shape of Delfin watch cases from the seventies. In this way, Edox shows that it is always looking for innovation with respect for its own heritage. A watch, not only for enthusiasts, but for every man who dares to stand out.

SkyDiver Neptunian – Extremely waterproof classic

Almost 50 years ago, Edox released the legendary SkyDiver. A robust military watch, which is said to have been specially made for a secret elite group of paratroopers. With the SkyDiver Neptunian, Edox gives this classic watch from 1973 a modern makeover. The watch is water-resistant to an incredible 1,000 meters. It is not without reason that the namesake Neptune – the Roman god of the sea – is engraved on the case back.

To ensure this extreme water resistance, the watch is built very robustly. With a sturdy stainless steel case, 3 mm thick sapphire glass and a ceramic bezel. A built-in helium escape valve offers protection against overpressure at great depths.

Despite these impressive specifications and a case height of 15.6 mm, the watch with a power reserve of 42 hours does not look ‘clumsy’, but has a modern classic look. This makes it not only a watch for deep sea divers, but for all lovers of this type of watch and proven mechanical technology.

North Sea 1978 automatic – The Inverse Moon Landing

The North Sea 1978 watch from Edox commemorates the ‘Inverse Moonlanding’ of 1978. This was a special diving expedition, in which divers dived an unprecedented 320 meters deep under the icy waters of Norway, to map the natural treasures that were hidden there. With the proceeds, the country invested in social and environmental projects that will continue to benefit future generations. Edox is the official watch partner of these heroic North Sea Divers.

The 43mm North Sea 1978 is a robust sports watch that can be worn anytime, anywhere. It is water resistant to 320 meters, a nod to that epic dive from 1978. The stainless steel case, coated in black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) for extra strength, houses an automatic caliber 80 movement. The hands and indices are coated with Superluminova for good visibility at night or in the water. The case back is engraved with the official logo of the North Sea Divers; a stylized diving helmet, and the words ‘The Inverse Moon Landing’.
