Whenever we visit our dwarf rabbit to pet or feed her, she starts grunting and walking around nervously. Why exactly is she grunting?
Answer
Rabbits growl with excitement. They may also grunt when they are angry or irritated. It’s a warning to you, and if it grunts, it’s quite possible that your rabbit will come and rattle you with its front paws, or even bite you. Sometimes rabbits also grunt with excitement when they know their food is arriving. Your rabbit probably defends her territory or doesn’t want to be picked up, because rabbits don’t like that very much. Try to distract her with treats when you come near her, so she will link you to something fun.
