Will Aprilia breathe a new life in the RSV1000?

It says nothing at all, but maybe too. From the United States there are in any case indications that could indicate that Aprilia will breathe new life into the RSV1000.

Will Aprilia breathe a new life in the RSV1000?

After making it in the Grand Prix Motorsport name and fame in the 125cc and 250cc, and as derivative of the factory racers to have put two production models RS125 and RS250 on the market, Aprilia decided to launch the RSV Mille Factory with the big boys at the end of the last century.

The RSV Mille was succeeded in 2004 by the RSV 1000 R (and RSV 1000 R Factory), with which Aprilia really hoped to break through in the Worldsbk, but the great successes were left, after which the baton was taken over by the RSV4, which has since been put in various versions of April and to the Day of Today, still to the Day of Today.

Despite the unprecedented success of the RSV4, with which Aprilia achieved a total of 7 world titles, there are still enough fans who think it is a shame that Aprilia has taken the RSV1000 out of production. The Rotax 60 ° V-twin had something unique, something magical. In that respect alone, there is still a market for a super sport like the RSV1000.

In addition to the v-twin appealing to many people to the imagination, Aprilia would be with a new RSV1000, then good for a top power of 139 hp, perfectly filling the hole between the current 200+ hk RSV4 and the RS 660 and RS 457. The RS 457 as the A2 entry model, then RSV1000 as the ideal boarding and then the ideal boarding step. Whether it is to keep it at the RSV1000, that is of course also possible.

The reason that a possible comeback of the RSV1000 has become the subject of conversation in the US is because there was the name RSV1000 again on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean in January.

Now that does not mean anything at all, Aprilia had registered the name RSV1000 worldwide when the model was available, but then had it expired over time, so it could be that someone at Aprilia has now corrected it, but it could also be that a new RSV1000 will be coming within the foreseeable future.

We would applaud it. It would be a welcome addition to the Supersport range and the new WorldsSP, where the engine could compete against the Street Triple 765, Panigale V2 and and R9.
