1. Join the Insider program
To download Windows 10 version 20H2 before everyone else, you will first need to enroll in Microsoft’s Insider program, which allows you to preview future Windows features.
To do this, click on the Start menu and go to Windows Settings.

Then enter the Update & Security menu, and enter the Windows Insider Program section.

Then click on the Start button and then on Link an account.

Then select the account you are logging in with and click Continue.

The next screen prompts you to choose your Insider settings. Concretely, when you join the Windows test program, three test levels are offered:
- The Dev Channel makes it possible to test very recent Windows updates in the development cycle and which can therefore be very buggy, therefore reserved for seasoned users.
- The Beta Channel (recommended) allows you to test more stable Windows updates while enjoying future features first.
- The Release Preview Channel, which allows the next version of Windows 10 to be tested in its stable version, before it is officially released to all users.

This is the latter, the Release Preview Channel, that you must select. Then validate your choice by clicking on Confirm then, again on Confirm.

You must then Restart your machine for your participation in the Windows Insider program to be taken into account.

2. Install the update
Once your machine has restarted, click on the Start menu and return to Windows Settings. Enter the Updates & Security menu again, and make sure you are in the Windows Update section.
If everything went as planned, you should see a Feature Update to Windows 10, version 20H2 mention. Click the Download and Install menu to start downloading and installing the Windows update.

Once the update process is complete, click on the Restart button to reboot your PC so that all the new features are correctly taken into account.

Your machine should now be running on Windows 10 October Updater 2020.
You can easily check this by going to Settings, then to the System menu where you will find an About section in which Windows Specifications are filled in.
