
Microsoft’s operating system update 21H1 is being rolled out and will be available gradually to all users. But you can download and install it right away. Here’s how.
It is now official, Microsoft has just started the deployment of the update 21H1 of Windows 10. But this minor update should be available initially only for a limited number of machines.
Windows is indeed carrying out a gradual deployment spread over several weeks, and gives priority to computers for which the possible compatibility problems are less. All machines running Windows 10 2004 or 20H2 are, in principle, able to receive this update.
Find out how to download and install Windows 10 Update 21H1 without further ado, by going directly through Windows update, or by downloading and installing it manually. Before embarking on this operation, do not forget to save all of your documents. If there is a problem, you can always manually uninstall the Windows update you just performed.

1. Check your version of Windows
Before you can download the 21H1 update, find out about the exact version of Windows installed on your machine and the type of system. It is in fact only available for Windows 10 version 2004 and Windows 10 version 20H2.
To find out the version of Windows on your machine, use the keyboard shortcut Windows + R, then in the window Execute that appears, type winver and click OK.

A window should appear and indicate your version of Windows 10: Version 2004 or 20H2.

2. Open Windows Update
To check if your machine is already eligible to download and install the 21H1 update, click on the Start menu and open Windows Settings.
In the panel of Windows 10 settings, click on the Update and security menu.

If Windows Update does not automatically check for the latest available updates, click Check for updates to search manually. If the 21H1 update is available, Windows Update will offer to download and install it immediately.

On the other hand, if no update is offered, it means that you still have to wait for your machine to receive it via Windows Update. Unless you download and install it manually.
3. Download Windows Update Assistant
To manually launch the 21H1 update for Windows 10, you can go through the Windows Update Assistant. Meeting on this page to download it by clicking Update Now.

4. Run the Update Wizard
Once the Update Assistant file has downloaded to your machine, open it, then in the pop-up “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device”, click Yes.
In the window Update to the latest version of Windows 10 that appears, check that the wizard offers version 21H1, and click the Update now button.

The Update Assistant then indicates whether your machine is compatible with the update, and immediately starts downloading it, if so.

Wait for the download to complete. Once completed, the update installation starts immediately, in the same window. Take your trouble patiently, the process can take several tens of minutes.

When the Update Assistant has finished its operation, you will be asked to Restart the device. Click on the appropriate button to restart your machine and complete the installation of the update.
If you are not yet ready to restart, click Restart later. Your PC will then complete the update installation and restart several times.
