Customize the refresh rate of the different screens connected to your machine with the October 2020 update.

And among the few new features included in Windows 10 version 20H2 (its other name), it is now possible to choose in the settings of the Microsoft operating system, the refresh rate of the screens connected to your machine. This refresh rate, expressed in Hertz indicates the number of images that your screen is capable of displaying per second and depends above all on your hardware. The higher the refresh rate of a screen, the smoother the set of images displayed will be.
Be careful, however, that changing the refresh rate depends on the specifics of the screens you are using. If these only support one refresh rate, you won’t be able to change this setting in Windows. If, on the other hand, you have a screen offering several refresh rates (75Hz, 144Hz, etc.), you can force Windows to use it. Here’s how to do it.
1. Open Settings
Start by clicking on the Start menu to go to the Windows settings and enter the System menu.

2. Enter advanced display settings
From the Display section, scroll through the options offered and go to Advanced display settings.

3. Change the refresh rate
In the window that appears, click on the drop-down menu displayed in the Choose display section, to select the screen on which you want to apply the modification (if you have several screens connected to your PC).

At the bottom of the window, in the Refresh rate section, click the drop-down menu and select the refresh rate value you want to apply to your screen.

The display of the affected screen should disappear and then quickly return after the setting has been applied. A pop-up asking if you want to Keep these display settings is displayed in the settings window. Click on Keep to save the changes.
