Your Phone is a new feature in Windows 10, which will be available in the October Update. It allows you to easily manage photos and SMS from your smartphone from your computer.
Among the new functions that the October update of Windows 10 will bring, Your Phone is one of the most interesting. It allows you to establish a connection between your PC and your Android smartphone in order to directly manage photos and SMS on the computer screen. We were able to test it on one of the latest versions Insider Windows 10, very close to the final version that will be released in October. To use the function, you must have a Microsoft account (registration is free).
Microsoft has done things well since an icon Your phone is present on the desktop to be easily accessible. By double-clicking on it during the first use, we launch a wizard which guides us in the configuration (click on the images below to enlarge them).

To associate the phone, Windows asks you to enter its number in order to send it an SMS.

This SMS contains a link to download the app from the Play Store Microsoft Apps. The latter then asks to connect with the username and password of the Microsoft account.

She will then need certain permissions on the Android smartphone, such as access to the computer, photos and SMS.

Once the permissions have been granted, you have to wait a few seconds and the photos from the smartphone are displayed on the Windows PC screen, in the Your Phone app.

It is thus possible to easily manipulate the photos, by a simple drag / drop. Thus, we were able to put them on the Windows desktop or in a Word document.
The app makes writing text messages more comfortable
To access SMS, simply click on the icon in the menu located in the left bar. The screen changes and the last text messages appear. An area is provided at the bottom right to type the answer, and this is much more practical with the computer keyboard than with that of the smartphone. A button at the top left allows you to start a new message.

The application is ultimately very pleasant to use and the sending / receiving of SMS works even if the smartphone is on standby. You just have to remember to click from time to time on Refresh because the automatic updating of messages may take a little time.
