You have a brand new computer or laptop with Windows 11 or are lucky enough to be able to upgrade your old system to Windows 11. Time to get to know the new operating system. But where exactly should you start? We give you a helping hand.
Two areas that you will undoubtedly encounter a lot are the Settings app and the Microsoft Store. Both things have been given a new look and work slightly differently than you are used to. For both apps, the design includes all elements of Windows 11 takes over and that there is again a handy menu on the left with which you can quickly navigate to the part you are looking for. For example, the Settings app can count on parts that you previously only found in the Control Panel (which will really disappear over time). If you want to quickly review the settings, as always, press Windows + i. The Microsoft Store offers, among other things, a shortcut to your library, has a new search bar at the top and has an attractive presentation.

Control panel and decoration
As an extension of the settings, it is also a good idea to try out the renewed Control Panel. You reach this panel by pressing the icons for Wi-Fi and the like, at the bottom right of the screen. In this menu you can quickly switch on things like WiFi and Bluetooth, for example. In addition, you can adjust the volume and the brightness of your screen here. As part of personalization, you get access to a number of new wallpapers, within themes called Glow, Captured Motion, Sunrise or Flow. You choose a theme via the settings and the heading Personalization. This is also the place where you choose a dark or light theme. Of course you can fish in other themes via the renewed Microsoft Store, if you need it.
Windows, Teams and Widgets
Finally, we have three other parts that are worth your attention. If you are someone who uses Microsoft Teams, it is good to know that the chat options of that program are directly integrated into Windows 11. You can recognize the icon in the taskbar by the purple color. Snapping windows to the edge of the screen is also easier than ever. When you hover your mouse over the Maximize button, Windows 11 presents all the options there are. Finally, the widgets. Windows 11 has a brand new menu for that. With the widgets you get information about the weather, news and other important things at a glance.
