Explore Microsoft’s operating system settings to retrieve the password for connecting to your Wi-Fi network.
While writing down your Wi-Fi password on a piece of paper isn’t the best solution, trying to remember it can quickly turn into a puzzle. If you haven’t kept it anywhere (not even within a password manager, the most secure solution to store your passwords), it is still possible to ask your Windows 11 PC connected to the network to display it to you.
There are several ways to do this. The first is to go through the Windows Command Prompt (functional on Windows 10 and Windows 11). The second, simpler, simply requires exploring some settings in Windows 11. Here’s how.
Also to discover in video:
1. Open Settings
Click on the Windows 11 Start menu and go to the operating system Settings or use the Windows + i keyboard shortcut.

2. Enter network preferences
In the left column, click on Network & Internet and enter the Advanced Network Settings menu.

In the Related settings section, click Additional network adapter options.

3. Display the options of your network card
In the new window that opens, right-click on your Wi-Fi network card then, in the contextual menu, click on Status.

4. Explore the Wireless Properties
A new window should open. Click on the Wireless Properties button then in the window that appears, go to the Security tab. Then check the Show characters box.

Your Wi-Fi connection password should then be revealed. Take the opportunity to copy it and store it securely in a password manager.
