Whether you agree or not, when you use Windows 11 you are faced with a simplified context menu. That menu offers a limited number of choices through (sometimes unclear) buttons. There is a button with which you can view more options in the menu, but it is nice when you immediately see what you can do.
The idea behind the new context menu (the menu that opens when you right-click on something) is noble. Microsoft probably wants to avoid being overwhelmed with choices and tries to present everything as compact and neat as possible. And admittedly, that menu looks pretty sleek. But many users also think that the design misses the mark. Unfortunately, you can’t quickly set that context menu and make it look like Windows 10, because Microsoft does not offer options for that. You can arrange this by doing things in the register of Windows 11 to change. Follow the steps below carefully to avoid errors.
Customize Windows 11 Context Menus
First open regedit. You do that very quickly by using the Windows key plus the R button to press. Type now reddit enter, press Enter and click in the new window Yes (Windows asks about the Registry Editor to open). Windows 11 now opens a new window with all kinds of options, with a kind of search or URL bar at the top. Now copy the next line of text and paste it in the bar at the top.
ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREClassesCLSID
Windows 11: tips, news, system requirements and more
Then create a new registration key in the CLSID folder. You do this by selecting the environment and then to To process > Key to go. Or you press with you right mouse button on the white area in the CLSID environment, then press New and then Key. Give the new folder the following name. You can copy this rule in its entirety.
{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}
In the new folder you now create another key. You do this in the same way as described above. Open the newly created folder and give the key the following name.
InprocServer32
Within the InprocServer32 environment there is a (Default)-key. Click on that with you right mouse button and press To adjust. Make sure the box is completely empty and press OK. Now close the Registry Editor and restart your Windows 11 computer. If you did everything right, you now have access to the extensive menus. If you want to go back to the old-new format, all you need to do is delete the InprocServer32 key.
