With the Mini EV, Wuling has one of the most popular electric EVs in the world. That success tastes like more. This is the Wuling Bingo, a cheerfully designed electric hatchback with which Wuling takes a different approach than its other models.

Just like Baojun, Wuling is one of the brands that was created from a collaboration between General Motors, the Chinese SAIC Motor and the also Chinese Liuzhou Wuling Motors. You may know Wuling from the Hongguang Mini EV, a compact electric city rascal that cannot be dragged into China that is available as a three-door, but which also has a slightly longer variant and even a Convertible version. The Wuling Mini EV has a few smaller electric brothers and sisters in the form of the Nano EV and Air EV, but Wuling now comes with an EV of a different order. This is the Wuling Bingo, their first electric five-door hatchback.

Wuling does not disclose extensive technical specifications of the Bingo, but information that AutoWeek has surfaced from the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology shows that the Bingo is 3.95 meters long. That makes it no less than a meter longer than the regular Mini EV. This makes it the largest electric car that Wuling offers. The largest electric indeed, as Wuling sells a whole bunch of SUVs and commercial vehicles. With its cuddly round shapes and somewhat retro-like appearance, the Wuling Bingo is reminiscent of the Ora models, one of the Great Wall brands coming to Europe. Thanks to the retrieved Chinese information, we know that the Bingo has a wheelbase of 2.56 meters and that it will be available with a 41 hp electric motor and with a 68 hp model. The top speed of both variants is limited to 100 km/h. The version with the 41 hp electric motor has a 17.3 kWh battery, the more powerful flavor has 31.9 kWh of electric lung capacity.

Speaking of flavours: the Wuling Bingo is available in the colors Coffee Milk White and Ice Berry Powder Pink, among other things. Furthermore, the Bingo can be ordered in Clear Night Black and Aurora Green. According to Wuling, Bingo should “make life tasteful” and that is something different from insisting on intense sportsmanship. Wuling says he mainly builds cars “that people need”.

Together with Baojun, Wuling has already sold more than one million electric cars in China since 2017. The Hongguang Mini EV has been the best-selling Chinese car in China for two consecutive years.
