Chinese manufacturer Wuling is steadily expanding its electric model range. The brand is now adding an electric van to its delivery range.
Rong Guang. It may sound like a dish you can order from your local takeaway Chinese, but nothing could be further from the truth. Rong Guang is the name of a van that has been sold in China by Wuling, a partnership between General Motors and the Chinese SAIC, since 2008. So it has been around for a while, but there is now a fully electric version for the first time.
Wuling recently added a jolly and extremely angular micro-EV to its line-up and now the Rong Guang is also plugging in. The electric drivetrain comes in both the order and passenger versions. In both cases it concerns a battery pack of 42 kWh. The order version thus comes 252 kilometers (NEDC), while the passenger variant has a range of 300 kilometers. The latter has a starting price of converted € 11,700. The battery pack can be fully charged in 2 hours via a fast charger. The standard equipment of the Rong Guang EV, which has a wheelbase of over 3 meters, includes power steering and an airbag for the driver. The practical but somewhat sparsely equipped pair are not coming to Europe.
