Wuling shows electric little one

Chinese Wuling has shown a first set of images of a very compact newcomer. The miniscule EV promises to be a four-seater despite its compact dimensions.

SAIC-GM-Wuling is a joint venture established in 2002 between the Chinese SAIC Motor and General Motors. Wuling is today showing a first set of photos of its upcoming newcomer, an all-electric model inspired by Japanese kei cars, according to its creators. Wuling describes the exterior of the as yet unnamed EV as “[…] characterized by straight lines and rectangular elements. “There seems to be no word about that. With some imagination, the EV looks like a shrunken version of the Hong Guang Plus launched last year.

Despite its undoubtedly extremely compact exterior dimensions, which Wuling has not yet released, the square little one can accommodate four occupants. According to Chinese media, the new Wuling is 2.92 meters long. This makes the Chinese newcomer 22 centimeters longer than a Smart Fortwo. The car would be available with two different battery packs, one with a capacity of roughly 9 kWh, the other with a capacity of 14 kWh. The electric motor would in all cases be 27 hp. Wuling promises to release more information soon. Tiny electric models are certainly no strangers in China. For example, Baojun has the E100 and E200 on the sales lists, little ones with a very striking design.
