Xiaomi has revealed the first details about MIU 13, its new software shell. This time, the software will get features to protect users from fraud and there will also be a special version of MIUI 13 that will work on tablets. MIUI 13 Pad, that’s what it will be called.

When Xiaomi announces the Xiaomi 12 in China on December 28, it will not only be the starting signal for its new flagship series, but also for MIUI 13. MIUI 13 is the manufacturer’s new software shell based on Android 12 and on Chinese social media Teaset Xiaomi some features.
First of all, Xiaomi wants to protect its users. Since the corona crisis began, phishing and other forms of online fraud have been on the rise, despite prevention campaigns designed to protect potential victims. MIUI 13 will get system-level anti-fraud features as well as a feature that detects dangerous links, according to Xiaomi. These are probably links in fraudulent messages. Unfortunately, we are not yet told how these systems will work in practice.

Furthermore, Xiaomi will also optimize its software for tablets with a modified shell that will be called ‘MIUI 13 Pad’. According to the Chinese company, the 3000 most important apps run smoothly on larger tablet screens. It is not clear whether MIUI 13 Pad will work with Android 12L from the start, which is Google’s new Android version that comes with a lot of improvements for tablets and foldable phones.
Finally, Xiaomi already shares that its new software will also work more stable and smoother compared to MIUI 12.5. The company speaks of “significant improvements”. Earlier we learned thanks to rumors that MIUI 13 can virtually expand the working memory of phones. We have already seen such a function in phones from Motorola, Samsung and OPPO, among others.
When will we see MIUI 13?
The first phone that we will be able to welcome in the Netherlands and Belgium with MIUI 13 will be the Xiaomi 12. It is expected to be on the market in the first quarter of 2022, but an exact date has not yet been announced.
