Flight deck car

Xpeng Aeroth, the branch of Xpeng that deals with everything that flies, is launching the ‘Land Aircraft Carrier’. Yes: a flight deck car!
This is still conceptual madness, but it is fun madness. The Land Aircraft Carrier can be described as a kind of six-wheeled pick-up or van. The back opens into three parts: the top part upwards, the bottom two to the left and right. Then a gigantic ‘drone’ with six rotors is released, in which two people have a breathtaking view of the surroundings, according to Xpeng. According to the brand, flying is very easy, partly thanks to the option of outsourcing it to the ‘air module’ itself. Very special.
Not enough of the flying stuff yet? Then it is nice to know that Xpeng Aeroth also presented the latest, slightly more production-ready version of its flying car at the Xpeng Tech Day 2023. We have seen that flying supercar before, but now it shows itself in a slightly less unrealistic form. The device is called Xpeng eVTOL flying car, where the ‘e’ stands for electric and ‘VTOL’ for ‘Vertical Takeoff and Landing’, or vertical takeoff and landing. Like an Osprey or Harrier can do, but even more like a helicopter can. This flying Xpeng also has six rotors, like those of a drone. Here they pop out of the roof of the car itself, which can then take to the airspace. How seriously Xpeng takes this idea is evident from how much attention has been paid to safety. The eVTOL has a ‘multi-parachute rescue system’, whereby a series of parachutes open in the event of an emergency to get everything safely back to the ground. According to Xpeng, this is possible from heights of 50 meters, much lower than the 200 meters that the brand says is usual for this type of solution.
Safely to the ground.
