Xpeng X9: smart competitor for ID Buzz?

In a short time, the international model range of the Chinese Xpeng has grown considerably and it does not seem that CEO He Xiaopeng will soon step on the brakes. In fact, the CEO looks forward to another new model: the X9. That will be a special one!

The European market introduction of the Xpeng P5 did not go quite as the car brand, founded in 2014, had envisioned. The European introduction of the P5 has been postponed until further notice. Will we have to do without Xpeng goods in Europe? No. This year, the brand brought the Xpeng P7 and the G9 to the Dutch market in one fell swoop, successively a large electric sedan and a large electric SUV. In addition, Xpeng sells the G3i, the facelifted version of Xpeng’s first car: the G3, in its home country China and in Norway. More than a month after Xpeng presented a brand new medium-sized electric SUV with a steeply sloping roofline in the form of the G6, CEO He Xiaopeng is already hungry for the next newcomer.

Xpeng X9: a smart competitor for the ID Buzz?

On his Weibo page, the Xpeng CEO places an image on which we see the new model name X9. Xiaopeng describes the X9 as an MPV with which it wants to attract ‘young people’. Does the CEO actually believe that relatively young buyer groups are in the market for MPVs? That could just be possible. MPVs are significantly more popular in their home market China than in Europe. Brands such as Buick, Lexus, Hongqi offer glitzy ballrooms with sliding doors and Geely’s Zeekr brand also offers a large electric MPV.

Is the Xpeng X9 also coming to the Netherlands? It is still too early to say anything about that. The Xpeng X9 could in any case act as an alternative to the Volkswagen ID Buzz.
