Yale, a smart home security provider, has launched the new Yale Home app that replaces the current Yale Access app. If you are still using Yale Access, read here what you should pay attention to when switching to Yale Home.

Yale is not only known for their ‘normal’ locks, but also for their smart locks such as the Yale Linus. From May 17, 2023, the new Yale Home app will be available to users. With this, Yale aims to provide its customers with a single app that they can use to control the brand’s existing smart products, as well as any new smart devices that will be released in the future.

Yale Home app
Yale Home offers the same features and services that users have already come to know. With the launch of this new app, it is important for all Yale users to move their Yale account from Yale Access to Yale Home now as the services of the Yale Access app will stop working as of July 1, 2023.

Moving accounts from Yale Access to Yale Home
The process of moving accounts is extremely simple. First, download the new Yale Home app. Once downloaded, users can open the app and log in with the same username and password they used before. With the new app, Yale customers don’t need to create a new account or reset their products, they can quickly log in and then continue their service as normal.
Once the primary user completes their account migration, all other users classified as owners or guests must also migrate. Otherwise, they will be locked out of the old Yale Access app and unable to control their device. It is very important to ensure that all users who have previously accessed a device, be they family, friends or other trusted visitors, have downloaded the new app, otherwise they will no longer be able to use smart access services.
It’s also important to note that during the account transfer process, any third-party integrations will not be transferred. This means that integrations with trusted Yale partners such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa or Philips Hue require a different setup via the new Yale Home app or a third-party app.
