Yale has announced the next generation of smart locks with the launch of the Yale smart door lock Linus L2. This product launch is accompanied by the ‘Makes security easy’ campaign.
Yale’s smart security system is expanded with the latest generation of Yale smart locks. Yale is also launching the Make Security Simple campaign. The campaign highlights a number of habits and ways people have to feel safe, such as installing traps to protect their home, leaving lights on or training their own guard dog.
Linus L2 is the successor to the first Linus smart door lock and compatible with Yale’s smart security ecosystem, which includes smart alarm systems, smart cameras and smart video doorbell, as well as smart storage products and smart gate and garage openers. All products can be connected to the Yale Home app. Collaboration with voice assistants and smart home brands is also possible within the ecosystem.

The lock is easy to install and fits most cylinders and locks. Regardless of whether the user is a renter or owner-occupier, the lock can be quickly mounted on the door and removed without leaving a trace. The installation process is simple for all users, so the lock is ready to use in just a few minutes.
Linus L2 is easy to operate, faster and stronger than the previous Linus generation, providing users with a world-class lock. The device has also become smaller, but Yale has still made sure it fits over larger wrenches to give users more convenient and faster installation options. The activity feed, smart alerts and notifications in the Yale Home app allow homeowners to track when the door to their home is opened and closed and which registered friends and family members enter the home.
New features Linus L2
In terms of new features, homeowners can now use the Yale Home app to easily schedule their lock to lock and unlock at certain times of the day. This means they can easily enter and exit their home during the day, but have the highest standard of security at night. This easy-to-use feature allows you to create a personalized security plan for your lock for added security and convenience. The lock can also be operated during the day using only the deadbolt if that suits the user best.
The smart lock now has built-in WiFi. This means that consumers no longer need to purchase an additional Connect Wi-Fi Bridge to use the remote features, for example to check if the door is locked while you are away or to know when the kids come home from school. Thanks to the integrated WiFi access, these functions are available immediately after unpacking the lock. Yale customers can also use accessories such as the Yale Smart Keypad or the new Yale Dot to lock and unlock their home even smarter and more securely.
The Linus L2 smart lock allows users to tap the Yale Dot with their phone to unlock or lock the door, without opening the Yale Home app. This means they can place a Yale Dot on the dashboard of their car and use it to quickly unlock the front door when it’s raining, or place it in the stairwell to pick the lock when they arrive on their floor.
More improvements
Linus L2 has made some significant improvements to make the device more durable. Less material is used in the production of the new smart lock and the lock is 20% smaller than the previous generation. The smart lock is also powered by a rechargeable battery that provides up to 6 months of power on a single charge and notifies you when the battery is low, so the home is always secured.
The Yale Linus smart door lock L2 gives users the freedom to design the right smart lock for themselves by integrating with leading voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home and other major smart home brands. The product will become Thread Matter compatible via a firmware update later this year, which will, among other things, bring Apple Home to Linus L2.
Furthermore, the Linus L2 has an updated design developed by the award-winning industrial design studio Bould Design. Fred Bould is a recognized designer who has worked on many other notable smart products such as the Nest thermostat. Thanks to the narrow, industrial design and robust metal housing, the lock fits any interior style, from traditional to modern.
