Yamaha Announces Updates to 2025 Tracer 9 Family, Adds Y-AMT

Yamaha seems to have seen the light as far as the semi-automatic transmission is concerned. After the MT-09 and recently announced MT-07, the Y-AMT Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission is now also available on the Tracer 9 family for model year 2025. And that’s not the only thing Yamaha has tweaked on the 2025 Tracer 9.

Yamaha Announces Updates to 2025 Tracer 9 Family, Adds Y-AMT

“A clear step towards the future”, is how Yamaha describes the updates it has made to the Tracer 9 family, Yamaha’s Sports Touring family based on the CP3 Crossplane three-cylinder in-line engine. Starting with the appearance, which Yamaha has freshened up again. Yamaha talks about a new streamlined fairing and a larger, adjustable windshield designed to provide more protection.

Most striking, however, is the new 7″ TFT color display, which includes three different themes, each with their own specific information. In addition, the display has additional layouts for navigation, music and telephone calls. The TFT dashboard has been developed to optimize the MotoRide Garmin app, which includes a full navigation service subscription as standard on GT and GT+, delivering a great live map navigation experience. The dashboard is also fully integrated with all of the TRACER 9’s standard and accessory features.

With comfort in mind, Yamaha says it has tweaked the ergonomics of the 2025 Tracer 9, with a revised triangular relationship between handlebars, footpegs and saddle. The new subframe has been extended by 50 mm, making the pillion seat a little wider. The saddle part for the rider is now flatter in shape, but with more padding, which has resulted in a higher seat height of 845 mm.

All three versions are equipped with cornering lights, with the Tracer 9 GT and Tracer 9 GT+ equipped with adaptive Matrix LED technology. This system consists of a matrix of several LEDs for low and high beam, which are linked to a camera, which in turn is integrated into the upper part of the headlight.

The camera detects traffic, natural light sources and weather conditions. Based on this information, the brightness and light distribution are dynamically adjusted to always provide optimal lighting. The adaptive headlights are fully automated, but you can also choose from three sensitivity levels.

The Tracer 9 GT is further equipped with electronically controlled suspension, an electrically adjustable windshield, heated grips, keyless ignition and cruise control, while the radar-supported package with adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and Front Collision Warning is reserved for the GT+, as well as the Unified Braking, Vehicle Hold Control and tire pressure monitoring.

Each of the three versions will also be available in 2025 with Y-AMT, the semi-automatic transmission that was first used on the 2025 MT-09 this year and recently also announced on the 2025 MT-07. The Y-AMT works with two servo motors, one for operating the clutch and one for the gearbox. Shifting can be done either automatically, where you can choose from D and D+ and in the second mode the upshift is slightly later (but still too fast according to our man who has already driven the MT-09 Y-AMT), or manually via paddles on the steering wheel.
