Yamaha donates 16 AG100 motorcycles to Riders for Health Gambia

In 2022, the first year of the three-year partnership with Riders for Health, Yamaha focused on supporting the organization’s Gambia program. The team was in dire need of replacing an aging fleet of AG100 motorcycles used to provide reliable transportation for health workers in remote areas.

By the end of the year, Riders for Health Gambia was able to purchase 16 new Yamaha AG100 motorcycles with the money raised. With these bikes on their way to The Gambia, Riders for Health and Yamaha would like to thank everyone who participated and made this possible!

In 2023, Yamaha will continue to raise funds for Riders for Health’s Gambia program as the replacement of their aging AG100 fleet continues to have great urgency. Yamaha has decided to start this year’s activities with the donation of 16 AG100 motorcycles.

In addition to our donation of motorcycles, Yamaha will be offering special and exciting products to raise even more money for the project. Motorcycle enthusiasts can enter raffles and auctions for the chance to win Yamaha products, including special VIP passes to WorldSBK and MXGP races across Europe and special WorldSBK and MXGP racing memorabilia.

The auctions and raffles are organized by Two Wheels for Life, the fundraising arm of Riders for Health in the UK.

The collaboration with Riders for Health

In 2022, Yamaha and Riders for Health entered into a three-year partnership. The purpose of this partnership is to raise awareness and fundraise in support of Riders for Health, a humanitarian organization that has been making health care accessible to remote communities in Africa for over 30 years.

In sub-Saharan Africa, more than 60% of the population lives in rural areas, miles from essential health centers and with no means of transportation.

The organization provides motorcycles and maintenance services to healthcare organizations and provides driver training for healthcare workers so they can reach people with reliable transportation for life-saving care.

Riders for Health is currently active in The Gambia, Nigeria, Lesotho and Malawi. They have been using Yamaha AG100/200 motorcycles for a long time, which naturally makes the organization an ideal partner in Yamaha’s pursuit of contributing to society and adding value to people’s lives.

Yamaha supports Riders for Health and their UK based fundraising arm, Two Wheels for Life, by raising awareness of their work and assisting them with fundraising activities.
