Yoga relaxes the body, mind and soul. Special yoga accessories should make it easier to practice. Here you can find out which aids are particularly useful and sustainable.

What do you need yoga accessories for?

Yoga harmonizes body, mind and soul and lets you live more relaxed and healthier. To practice yoga, all you really need is yourself and a quiet place with enough space to move about. It doesn’t take more to experience the benefits of yoga.

However, if you want to make it easier for yourself to practice, a variety of accessories can come in handy. Especially for beginners: indoors it is advisable to use one or the other aids. These can make your training much easier and prevent injuries. When you buy equipment, you should make sure that it is sustainably produced. Because high quality Yoga products made from pollutant-free materials are harmless to health and usually have a long lifespan.

Wear clothing for yoga in which you feel comfortable and can move freely. It shouldn’t constrict you or keep slipping. When the clothes fit well, the head is free for the yoga class. Practicing in worn out or broken clothes can spoil the fun of it if you feel uncomfortable. Therefore, wear an outfit that makes you feel good. So you can really relax during your yoga exercises.

If you want to buy new yoga clothing, make sure that it is made from natural materials and under fair conditions. You can find chic organic and fair yoga clothing at **Avocado Store or here:

The yoga mat is a yogi’s home. It is the place of retreat to take time for yourself. In order to practice yoga carefree, a non-slip mat is recommended (available from ** Avocado Store). It gives you a secure hold and reduces the risk of injury from slipping. The mat also protects you from hard or uneven surfaces. This allows you to practice relaxed and painless. The mat gives you clues that you can use to align your body. This helps to do exercises correctly and straight.

You should make sure you have a sustainable yoga mat to be used that has been produced in a fair and climate-friendly manner and does not contain any toxic substances. For example, recycled yoga mats are particularly environmentally friendly.

A yoga block is particularly helpful for beginners. You can lean on it or lie down, sit on the block, or use it as a small weight. Depending on the application, it helps, for example, to keep the back long and straight, relax the neck or open the chest. So you can relax more deeply and make your yoga practice more effective. Alternatively, you can use a thick book or a packet of ground coffee.

Sustainable yoga blocks are available, for example, made of cork or wood (to be found at **Avocado Store).

A yoga belt can be particularly helpful when stretching or bending (available from **Avocado Store). If you are not that flexible yet, the belt will help you find an optimal position. For example, you can put it around your feet when you lean forward and hold it with your hands. Your back stays upright and straight and doesn’t have to curve for your fingers to reach your feet. This allows you to enjoy the positive effects of the position even with less mobility.

You can also use a belt, ribbon, or scarf.

There are also large yoga rolls (**Avocado Store). These are suitable for resting the body on them in order to find deeper relaxation. You can use them to stretch your chest or support your knees while lying on your back, for example. Large sofa cushions are also good for this.
