Budget available for almost 20,000 EVs

Are you planning to buy a new or used electric car? You can then apply for the SEPP subsidy scheme again in 2024. In fact, you can do that from now on.
On Tuesday, January 9 at 9:00 am, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) opened the digital counter where you can apply for a purchase subsidy. This will be possible again in 2023 for a new electric car with a tax value (list price) of up to €45,000 and for a used car with an original list value of up to €45,000.
The total subsidy pot is filled with 87.4 million euros. That is less than last year. In 2023, 99.4 million euros was available. Of the more than 87 million, 58 million is intended for the purchase – or private lease – of a new electric car. That is no less than 9 million euros less than last year. After all, 67 million euros of the total subsidy pot was intended to encourage the purchase or private lease of a new electric car. There are also several million fewer available this year to encourage the purchase or private lease of a used electric car. After all, last year there was 32.4 million euros in that part of the pot. This year it is 29.4 million.
You can receive a financial compensation of €2,950 on the purchase or private lease of a new electric car, just like in 2023. This means that there is a budget available for 19,661 new electric cars this year. The purchase subsidy for a second-hand electric car is €2,000, just like last year. This year there is a budget available for 14,700 electric used cars.
The subsidy on new electric cars would initially be reduced to €2,550 this year, but will remain just €2,950 per car as in 2023. Last year, the part of the subsidy pot intended to make the purchase of a second-hand EV more attractive was fully allocated on November 20. The subsidy budget for new electric cars will by no means run out in 2023.
Are you planning to purchase a used or new electric car this year? And do you intend to use the SEPP subsidy scheme?
