Face ID on the iPhone X not only allows users to log in, but also to play games. We list three such games in this article.
Face ID games on iPhone X
Using Animoji, especially for karaoke sessions, was popular for the first few weeks after the iPhone X release. Most users are now used to it and they mainly use Face ID to unlock the phone and as verification to download apps.
But developers also have access to Face ID’s technology. That suddenly results in a few games that are playable with your face. It is not known what that ultimately yields for games, but right now you can try a few simple examples.

Nose Zone
The Nose Zone app shows your face as a set of lines in 3d. A green laser comes into view from the tip of your nose with which you have to hit squares on the screen. You do this by making subtle movements with your head.
You have half a minute to shoot all squares, but you can collect bonus time in extra rounds. This is how you try to set a top score. You can compare the scores with friends via Game Center.

Rainbrow
You also play the game Rainbrow completely without hands. You don’t see your own face in the picture, but you do see an emoji that looks like you. By raising your eyebrows, the doll moves up a track on the rainbow. Look neutral and he stops. He moves down with a frown.
This way you try to move vertically across the screen while collecting stars. In addition, you should be careful not to be hit by other emoji floating through the image. The following also applies here: try to achieve the highest possible score.

Wacky Face
Wacky Face won’t be released in the App Store until Wednesday, but can already be pre-ordered, so you’ll have it right away when it’s available. With Wacky Face you control the face of a monster with your face. Enemies come at you from three sides, which you defeat by winking or opening your mouth.

Other ideas
In the App Store you can find a few apps that use facial tracking as input. Face Scape is one of them, but it’s not made for Face ID technology. The app has been in the App Store since 2015 and works with any camera. By moving your head to the left and right, you slide a ball across the screen. The difference with Face ID is huge, because Face Scape has a lot more trouble registering head movements.
In the coming period more and more apps will appear that use your face as input. This only works well with the iPhone X, because it is the only iPhone that has the face scanner on board. Now they are still simple apps, but who knows what the future will bring.
