AutoWeek 2 will be in stores from Wednesday or will fall on your doormat this week. In the double test, we compare the new Volvo C40 with the equally youthful Ford Mustang Mach-E. Which one should you have? In the US we are also introduced to the brand new Mercedes-AMG SL. That’s a lot of fun. We also drive the electric SsangYong Korando and we pit our endurance test Mercedes-Benz C180 against an E and an S class. They have so much in common! And look especially at Blits Bezit for a short Cadillac.
As you can see in the photo above, a newcomer from Volvo will take part in a comparison test with the Ford Mustang Mach-E this week. “The first Volvo ever designed exclusively for fully electric propulsion,” Volvo proudly exclaims about the C40. Still, the car is both visually and technically very similar to the electric XC40, albeit with a more graceful body. Does the car have enough to beat the Ford Mustang Mach-E?
If you are more interested in something more spectacular, then you don’t have to miss AutoWeek this week. After all, we were driving the brand new Mercedes-AMG SL. It differs quite a bit from its predecessor. Let’s see how that turns out.
The SL is not the only Mercedes in AutoWeek this week. In fact, we have three more! We list the three most popular names: the C-, E- and S-class. If you put them next to each other, it’s not easy to tell them apart. But once you get going with it…
The SsangYong Korando has a more modest cut, which is now also available as a fully electric e-Motion. Until now, SsangYong had quite a bit of trouble with the bpm in the Netherlands and that does not apply to this Korando of course. Is it the car that can finally put the brand more firmly on the map? Cornelis Kit set out to find that out.
We bridge the gap between new cars and the past in a report we made with our Mazda MX-30 endurance tester. With that we traveled to Rilland, where a truly immense Mazda collection can be admired. Kees Hoebeke took us through the most special models in his collection, including an RX-7, 121 ‘Bolhoed’ and the special Eunos Cosmo.
The most striking car that you will find in our magazine this week is undoubtedly Stijn van Geleuken’s Milan Roadster Convertible. You take a Cadillac Seville, take out the rear doors, cut it in half and shorten the wheelbase by just under half a meter. Then you put a block of concrete behind the front seats to improve the driving quality and lo and behold: the Milan Roadster Convertible is ready for you.
On the rollers we have a real Lexus IS F guest this week that makes an attempt to make the rollers go wild with its mighty V8. The Japanese often do not disappoint with a power measurement, but is that the case again this time?
The absolute stunner of this week, however, can be found in Klokje Rond. A real Fiat Multipla! Although the spacious Italian used to be massively dragged through the mud, the Multipla is now growing into a true cult car. One that apparently also appeals to the younger generation, because the owner of the Multipla, who is subjected to a thorough check, is 20-year-old Kiki Luk. She had big plans for the car that now has more than three tons of experience, but whether there are more great adventures in it?
You can read all that and more in the latest AutoWeek. It will be in stores from Wednesday this week. Would you rather not go out? Order from the comfort of your home the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your doorstep within two working days.
