You can read this in AutoWeek 3

Techzle 3 will be in the shops from tomorrow or will arrive on your doorstep this week. What are you reading in our packed magazine this week?

In 2021 Techzle number 3, we will start by looking at two interesting SUVs from the east: the Toyota Highlander and the Hyundai Tucson. We did not know the first here yet, the second is an indispensable part of the Dutch street scene. The previous model series of the Tucson has always been in the shadow of nephew Kia Sportage. That has to change, so Hyundai is taking a much more brutal road with the i20, just like before. Jan Lemkes has the honor of making the first kilometers with it.

Hyundai Tucson

In our fairly new section ‘Class Battle’, the entries also come from an Asian brand: Toyota. The Corolla and the Yaris are put together to see what exactly you are missing out on if you don’t go for the Corolla but its little brother. When shopping in a higher market segment, can we expect a more mature car in other respects in addition to extra space, or are we short of the compact model? And how far is the manufacturer going to push through its brand identity?

We also put two compact SUVs against each other in a comparison test, which have become a bit more attractive thanks to a partly electric powertrain: the Jeep Compass 4xe and our endurance tester, the Volvo XC40 T5 Recharge. The XC40 is quite a hit in our country, time to find out if the Compass has it as a plug-in hybrid to catch up.

Seat Leon

Of course, many used cars will also be featured, with a special leading role for the Seat Leon. The Spaniard is now working on his fourth generation, so we bring in his predecessors. Would the youngest Leon be an interesting option for them one day, or would they prefer to stay true to their own older Leons?

Mercedes-Benz W124 200 T Clock Round

The Mercedes-Benz W124 is known as one of the most solid cars ever made. We understand very well that Joanika Ring is still driving her 200 T thirty years after the purchase, even though there are already more than six tons on the counter. An ideal candidate for ‘Klokje Rond’, of course. Is it still such a good car, or are the years starting to count?

In any case, what can be questionable when it comes to reliability is buying a car that has been taken care of by a tuner. While it often happens well, the fact remains that more is pulled out of a block than it was originally built for. All the more interesting to see how healthy a tuned engine is in terms of power after years of life experience. We will investigate that in the coming period in ‘On the Rollenbank’, with a Volkswagen Golf GTI raised by Abt as the first candidate.
