AutoWeek 3 will be in stores from Wednesday or will fall on your doormat this week. In this issue we have a comparison test between the brand new Peugeot 308 and the Toyota Corolla, we drive the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid and we dive into the family ties of the Volvo XC40 Recharge and Polestar 2.
As you can see in the photo above, we were able to travel with a Bentley. Not just any Bentley, but the imposing Flying Spur. It is now also available as a hybrid. While that may seem like swearing in church, it could turn out really well. Cornelis Kit had the honor of putting it to the test.
Of course we have not lost all our modesty and of course this issue also focuses on much more affordable new cars. What about the brand new Peugeot 308, for example? It is now also in the Netherlands and that gives us the opportunity to pit it against the Toyota Corolla. Let’s see if the pretty high-profile 308 is still so impressive.
A Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge has been in our endurance test garage for a while and one of the things that we thought would be interesting to find out is how that car actually compares to the Polestar 2. The Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2 were created once. as the 40.1 and 40.2 Concept from Volvo and were therefore brothers, but now they fall under two different brands.
There are also some interesting reports to read in AutoWeek 3, such as a story about Toyota’s hydrogen ambitions. We also dive into the range of electric cars at 130 km/h. Because what does blowing through on the highway really do with the driving range? And then we also have an interesting conversation with Opel designer Pierre-Olivier Garcia. Using some high-profile classic Opels and new concepts, he illustrates how old and new can be united.
You will of course find more ‘old’ stuff on our occasion pages, where we report this week, among other things, about a search for relatively affordable Porsches. For a maximum of €23,000, we found a 911, Boxster and a Cayenne. The latter differs from the first two not only in terms of body shape.
A 1987 BMW 325i is a guest on the roller bench this week. The E30 is now quite sparse and certainly more potent versions like this one, if they are still around, often don’t really have a quiet life behind them. So it’s all the more interesting to see if the zespitter still has all his horses on board.
Finally, Klokje Rond is this time dominated by a Nissan Pixo from 2009. Not such a striking car as last week’s Fiat Multipla, but the Pixo still deserves a compliment because it has already lasted 300,000 km. Well, that in itself isn’t such a shocking mileage, until we find out what the little Nissan’s past is.
You can read all that and more in the latest AutoWeek. It will be in stores from Wednesday this week. Would you rather not go out? Order from the comfort of your home the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your doorstep within two working days.
