Rocking the Emira and electric SUVs

You can read this in AutoWeek 30

You can buy AutoWeek 30 from Wednesday in the store or expect it in your mailbox this week. In this issue we put the Lotus Emira to the test, we put the Tesla Model Y next to the Ford Mustang Mach-E and we have a Citroën C3 in Klokje Rond that is kept driving with a lot of art and flying work.

This week in AutoWeek we focus on a special newcomer. At least, new, the Volkswagen Multivan unveiled last year is in any case quite different from its predecessor. It is now a plug-in hybrid, which has suddenly made it a much more interesting passenger bus for the Dutch market. Is the new space giant also better than the standard SUV? The Hyundai Santa Fe picks up the gauntlet.

Lotus Emira V6

The Emira is the latest Lotus with a combustion engine. Our next first kilometers with a fresh Lotus will probably not only be electric, but also with a new car shape for the brand. In addition to this Emira and the Evija electric hypercar, a series of lifestyle models will soon be released. But first let’s take a look at this last one old school Lotus.

Where the Emira is a bit the last of the Mohicans for Lotus, the Ariya is an important new chapter for Nissan. A brand new EV with more interesting technology on paper than that of the Leaf. We had to wait for it for a while, but now we can use it extensively.

Tesla Model Y vs. Ford Mustang Mach-e

More electrical testing? Yes, of course. Both Ford and Tesla deliver a fast version of their electric crossover. At Ford it’s called GT and at Tesla Performance. More speed and a harder chassis on a fairly heavy car. Does that make for a bit of spectacle? Marco Gorter sets out with both cars to discover the differences, but also to find the added value of such a powerful variant.

Speaking of powerful variants: on the dynamometer we find a Volkswagen Scirocco R this week. In fact, a Scirocco is a Golf V but as a coupé, but the Scirocco R is something different. After all, you will not find a 265-hp four-cylinder in a Golf. Moreover, according to judge Ghisbert, the engine ‘usually produces considerably more power’ as standard. What a pity that we now meet Stephan Leever’s Scirocco.

Citroen C3 Clock Round

Finally, there is a Citroën C3 guest in Klokje Rond, with a very experienced 1.1 in the nose. More than 6 tons are on the counter and he likes LPG. For an apple and an egg, the C3 has to keep driving and it looks like this is starting to break up the car. And then we express ourselves cautiously.

AutoWeek 30 will be in stores this week from Wednesday. Would you rather not go out? Order from the comfort of your home the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your doorstep within two working days.
