Quite a few horsepower

You can buy AutoWeek 32 from Wednesday in the store or expect it in your mailbox this week. A number of spectacular cars will be featured this week, some (much) newer than others.
Before we start the real spectacle, we introduce you to a somewhat milder pair. In AutoWeek 32 we put a Ford Fiesta equipped as ST-Line X next to a Toyota Yaris GR Sport. Two sporty compact models, but in both cases it goes further than just decoration. Time for a comparison.
The Ferrari Daytona SP3 that Marco Gorter drove is of a significantly heavier caliber. A Ferrari with a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated V12 without electrical assistance. It is even a hyper-exclusive model by Ferrari standards and yet it is already sold out.

We stay in the corner of fast red cars for a while. In Blits Bezit we take a closer look at a 2006 Audi RS4 Avant and its owner. It is a sports car to be reckoned with. That’s quite a compliment, for a station wagon.
This week we meet a direct competitor of the RS4 on the roller bench. At least, a predecessor of it: a BMW M3 E46. Owner Raoul Klink opened the whole box of tricks to end up in such a fast boy. He bought a British copy and moved the steering wheel from the right to the left. We take our hats off to him, but also immediately add a disclaimer: for heaven’s sake, don’t try this yourself.

We also find a much less strong but certainly well-endowed candidate in Klokje Rond. A Saab 9-3 2.0 Turbo. A convertible, moreover. Owner Jip van Smeerdijk works as an aircraft mechanic and is about to get his pilot’s license. Enough starting points to choose the Saab, even if the link with aviation was not the motivation. A lot of horsepower for little money was the approach. Although that worked, the Saab is starting to get a bit tired with almost 4 tons behind it.

Have we had the highlights with that? No of course not! You have already been able to see the beginning of this year’s Barrel Brigade and this week it is time for the next chapter. None other than Nic de Boer, a bit ‘King Barrel’, is coming to inspect this year’s barrels. Because he may not participate for the first time, but without him the Barrelbrigade is of course not complete.
AutoWeek 32 will be in stores this week from Wednesday. Would you rather not go out? Order from the comfort of your home the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your doorstep within two working days.
