You can read this in AutoWeek 43

AutoWeek 43 will be in stores from tomorrow or will fall on your doormat this week. This week we are going on the road with a lot of electric cars. For example, we test the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and also more modest cars such as the Mazda MX-30, Lexus UX 300e and the Volvo C40. Of course, cars with a combustion engine are also discussed.

You don’t have to put the AutoWeek aside if you don’t like electric driving. What about the driving test with the Opel Insignia, for example? The Sports Tourer, also with a diesel engine. There used to be three on every street corner: middle-class station wagons with a modest diesel engine. Today they are as rare as a Ferrari. Whether that is justified, we find out with the Opel Insignia ST 1.5 CDTi.

Lexus UX 300e vs. Mazda MX-30

Perhaps a bit more contemporary and still a bit out of the ordinary, are the Lexus UX 300e and Mazda MX-30. Fully electric, only with a fairly modest range. The first EVs of both brands appear to be well matched. But you won’t get very far with it.

You progress with the Volvo C40 Recharge, the brand’s first ‘stand alone’ electric car. Yet there is little news, because under the skin it is for 99 percent an electric XC40. Fortunately, it is very good, so the C40 has the wind behind. Roy Kleijwegt will inform you about the possible differences.

Volkswagen ID Life

Much less known is the Volkswagen ID Life, the concept car with which Volkswagen is looking forward to a smaller brother for the ID3. It already seems quite production-ready, but Wolfsburg has not yet given the green light. We were already allowed to drive around with the city convertible. We also drive the brand new Honda HR-V. For the new generation of the HR-V, Honda did not get rid of it with a Jantje van Leiden. The car is now only available with hybrid technology according to our own recipe and in the interior we come across an air curtain. Is this a step forward?

Ford Mustang Mach-E GT

You may have already seen the video: Jan Lemkes was able to experience first-hand what the most powerful Ford Mustang Mach-E, the GT, has to offer. Ford Mustang GT. Until now, that name meant that a V8 is involved, but Ford now dares to stick ‘GT’ on the top model of the electric Mustang Mach-E. At least the car is fast, but is it fun?

One car that turned out to be fun in its own way, at least, is the Mini Cooper. Amke Wassink got hers for free from her father, who once bought the car new. There is now almost 3.5 tons on the counter and so Amke is curious if she can enjoy it even longer. Up to judge Joep to find out.

Mini Clock Round

Finally, this week we have a somewhat forgotten car on the rollers: the Kia Cerato. We no longer had that on our minds and that alone is reason enough to lure Lorenzo Gunsing and his Korean pride to our rack in The Hague. He did not take any chances with the preparation and that pays off in a surprisingly good score.

All that and more can be read in the latest AutoWeek. It will be in stores from Wednesday this week. Would you rather not go out? Order from the comfort of your home the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your doorstep within two working days.
