AutoWeek 44 will be in stores from tomorrow or will fall on your doormat this week. This week we focus on quite a few large and/or powerful cars. What about the new Audi RS3, the Ford Bronco, the Range Rover Velar and the Porsche Macan?
To start with, this week in AutoWeek you can read about the two SUVs we mentioned last: the Porsche Macan and the Range Rover Velar. Porsche is on the eve of the introduction of its first electric SUV. In order not to alienate the petrolheads, Porsche lets the Macan with its petrol engines stay for a while and it has therefore been given a makeover. Whether that is enough, we investigate in a comparison with the also updated Range Rover Velar.
Ford Bronco
An SUV of a different cut is the Ford Bronco. Enthusiasts have been waiting for an eternity for a new Ford Bronco in retro style. Already in 2004 a study model attracted attention during the auto show in Detroit, now we can go out with the production version that also finds its way to our country via the gray import.
We’ll leave the modesty for what it is for a while, because we also drive the brand new Audi RS3. The Audi RS3 has always been fast, but the new generation has to be sharper than ever before. At the same time, the driving pleasure should also be higher thanks to the new rear differential with clutches. It sounds like limping in two minds.
Is there nothing to read this week about cars for a more modest budget? Well, really. How about a warm welcome for our new endurance tester: the Nissan Qashqai? We also visit a Mazda RX-8 owner for Blits Bezit and we do that with ‘our’ Mazda MX-30 endurance tester. What does someone with a Mazda with a rotary engine think of the EV that will eventually also have a rotary engine on board? Finally, we dive into the logbook of our endurance test Mercedes-Benz C-class and what do we see there: 1,000 km on one tank?
In Klokje Rond we have a Seat Leon guest this week with the reliable 1.8 turbo (the one from before the TFSI era) on board. The mileage of 360,000 km shows that that block can take quite a bit, but whether that also applies to the rest of the car? Tim from Carrec Technocenter makes his ruthless judgment about it.
Finally, we have one of the most special guests ever in ‘Op de Rollenbank’. A Barkas Framo. A what? A pickup truck built in East Germany that originally had a very modest two-stroke engine in the nose. Now there is something very different from much further away. It will not be a crack monster, but how much horsepower does the fully restored Barkas actually have?
All that and more can be read in the latest AutoWeek. It will be in stores from Wednesday this week. Would you rather not go out? Order from the comfort of your home the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your doorstep within two working days.
