Techzle 5 will be in the shops from tomorrow or on your doorstep this week. What are you reading this week in our packed magazine?
The arrival of a new generation of the Volkswagen Golf is always big news. After all, it has been one of the most popular cars in the Netherlands for many years. Although the eighth Golf is no longer brand new, we have never before looked at how far away the Golf is from the original from 1974. Until now!
A car that is still completely unknown here is the JAC iEV7s. Quite a mouthful and then there are probably plenty of different ways to pronounce it. Anyway; it is the umpteenth Chinese EV to seek refuge on our continent. Time to take a look at what the European raison d’être of the JAC is or is not.
Another Chinese EV, the Aiways U5, has been available in the Netherlands for several months now. For the first time we got the keys to it and in addition to a test of the U5 itself, the Aiways was also allowed to prove itself directly against the established order. And what an established order: the Volkswagen ID3 and Hyundai Kona Electric. The U5 offers a lot more space for the same money, so see if there are anything that betrays its origins and favorable price tag compared to the ID3 and Kona.
Before you think that this number only focuses on (electric) transport for the masses … Wait until you arrive at the first driving test with the BMW M5 CS. The most powerful 5 Series ever delivered by BMW itself. In fact, it is the most powerful car ever from BMW’s M division. 635 hp in a fat sedan, it is still possible!
More sporty fun, albeit a little more modest, comes in the form of the Cupra Formentor and the BMW X2 M35i. Twice over 300 hp and twice as much driving pleasure. Are the Cupra Formentor and BMW X2 M35i everything a modern motorist could wish for and more, or are they secret driving compromises? Marco Gorter figured it out.
Okay, back to cars for the common man and woman. Monique Katsburg’s Renault Kangoo is one of them. A faithful means of transport that is mainly aimed at practical ease of use. Also reliable, because the Kangoo is already more than 310,000 km. It is up to Joep Schuurman to find out whether Monique can rely on her loyal French car for longer, or whether the love may soon cool down a bit.
This and more can all be read in the latest Techzle, which will be in stores this week from Wednesday. Would you rather not go out? Order from the easy chair the latest number. Then it will be delivered to your door within two working days.
