Have you ever clicked the Send button a little too quickly? Do you often forget to add the attachment? If you work with Outlook, you can use a clever trick to ensure that the program waits a few minutes before the message actually goes out the door.
Step 1: New line
You build in the delay by means of a rule. To do this, open Microsoft Outlook and navigate via File to Info. There you open the group Manage rules and alerts. In the window Rules and warnings click the button New rule. This will open the wizard that helps you compose a correct rule. In the group Start with an empty line select the option Apply rule to messages I send.
Step 2: Postpone
Then click the button at the bottom Next oneso you can start setting the criteria of this rule. In this new window you will see two steps. In step 1 you put a check mark on the option only on this computer. Click again Next one and now place a check mark next to it delay delivery of the message for several minutes. Then click in the same dialog on the underlined text: a number of to determine how long Outlook postpone sending your message. click on OK and finally on Complete.
Step 3: One message
With the above method you will delay all outgoing mail for a certain number of minutes. But you can also send just one message at a later time. Compose the mail as usual, address it and then click the tab Options. This tab contains the button Postpone delivery. If you click on it, you can set the date and time when the message should be sent. Then use the button as usual To send in the message box to send your message. In Outbox all mail messages that are waiting to be sent in this way will arrive. You can always change the delivery time and date by double clicking on that message and via the tab Options change the delivery time.
