Taking photos is one of the most important functions of your iPhone. It is therefore not surprising that an (old) iPhone is still the most popular camera in the world. Still, a default setting on your iPhone means that the photos you take are of poorer quality. This makes the photos look less sharp and can make them grainy.

With the default setting on your iPhone, the image quality of the photos is adjusted when you take several photos in succession. The quality of the images will then be reduced if you quickly press the shutter button. Do you often take a lot of photos with your iPhone in a short time? Then there is a good chance that the images have deteriorated due to your phone. That’s how you turn it off.
This is how you disable the camera function
Do you want to keep the quality of your photos on your iPhone? Then you have to go to the settings of your phone. There it is described that your iPhone intelligently adjusts the quality of the photos if you quickly press the shutter. In practice, this means that the images are of lower quality, so that several photos can be taken in quick succession. You disable this function in the following way:
- Open ‘Settings’ on your iPhone;
- Scroll down and choose ‘Camera’;
- Scroll down again and turn off “Prioritize faster shots.”
You will notice the difference of this function mainly when you take photos in low light. The images have more noise, are slightly less sharp and have less detail when the function is on. Turning off the default setting ensures that your iPhone won’t degrade the quality of your photos in certain situations. This way you always have sharp photos!

Prioritizing faster recordings is enabled by default on your iPhone, so you’ll need to disable it manually. If you (almost) never take several photos in quick succession, you probably won’t notice much of the setting. It is recommended to disable the function if you use the burstmode often used.
