Google’s YouTube app has been revamped and includes a bunch of new features. For the first time in twelve years, the service also gets a new logo with this YouTube design.
YouTube design with new features
Google thought it was time to revamp YouTube. That is why the design has been updated and we also get a bunch of new functions in the app. Most importantly, the player will soon adapt much better to the format of the video. For example, if you watch a vertical or square video in the future, you will no longer see black bars. At a time when video is recorded and edited in all kinds of formats, this is a welcome addition.
It is also nice that it is now possible to adjust the speed of videos. In the app, just like YouTube on desktop, it is now possible to play a video slower or faster. Google is also experimenting with a new movement. Previously, it was already possible to rewind or fast forward the video by tapping left or right on the screen twice. Soon you will also be able to start the next video with a swipe from right to left.
When you watch a movie in full screen, you can see a list of recommended videos with a tap. This is a smart way to let you see through. Instead of closing the video and the app, you start the next video faster.
Minor improvements
There are also some small improvements. As mentioned, YouTube has a new logo, for the first time in twelve years. In addition, the navigation tabs are placed at the bottom of the app. With these tabs you will now also find a tab for your library and one for your account, so that you can quickly access them.
