Zeekr is an interesting sister brand of Volvo, Polestar and Lynk & Co. With Zeekr, parent company Geely focuses entirely on the sale of electric cars.

In Europe, the MPV has been on the decline for years, although electric powertrains in Europe may save the practical ballrooms. MPVs were often bitten hard by the Dutch bpm monster and cars with an electric heart know how to avoid its eager jaws. You will hardly find electric MPVs in the Netherlands. Volkswagen has the ID Buzz, Mercedes-Benz the EQV and the Stellantis brands of course offer passenger car versions of various electric commercial vehicles. In China in particular, the large electric SUV has been simmering in the automobile pan for some time and this time Zeekr comes with an electric space giant: the 009.

It is no longer a surprise that the Zeekr 009 is on the way. The Geely brand has already shown the 009 in teaser photos, although there was not yet a good picture of the front of the electric MPV. Until now. AutoWeek has found these new plates and the first technical specifications of the Zeekr 009 from the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The Zeekr 009 has dimensions that make the Volkswagen ID Buzz pale in comparison. Where the ID Buzz is still up to a maximum of 4.71 meters, the Zeekr 009 that plays the leading role in this article extends over a distance of no less than 5.21 meters. This is 3.21 meters between the front and rear axles. That long wheelbase undoubtedly provides a sea of interior space. Especially when you consider that the MPV is 2.02 meters wide and 1.86 meters high.

Unfortunately, we can’t tell you how big the battery pack of the Zeekr 009 is yet. We do know that the specific example in these photos has a total of two electric motors that each deliver 272 hp and that the top speed is 190 km/h. The size and the possibly substantial electric lung capacity do provide the MPV with a considerable car weight. The example in these photos – a six-seater and not a seven- or eight-seater, by the way – weighs 2,830 kilos. To put that in perspective: that is more than 200 kilos more than an extended and therefore about 6 meters long Rolls-Royce Phantom EWB (Extended Wheel Base) with 6.75 liters V12 weighs (2,610 kilos).
