Sister model Volvo EX30 and Smart #1
Geely has never heard of twiddling his thumbs. Volvo’s parent company will bring its young Zeekr brand to Europe this year. These photos show the Zeekr X in action on European territory, an electric crossover that you can see as a sister model to the Volvo EX30.
Volvo will bring the EX90 to the European market this year, but 2023 is also the year in which Volvo will add a new electric model to its delivery range that will be one step below the XC40: the EX30. The Volvo EX30 will have a sister model within the Geely family in the form of the Zeekr X. That Zeekr X is also coming to Europe and the test work with that electric crossover is now in full swing. This new set of photos shows a packed test sample of the Zeekr X being put through its paces on a frozen lake in Sweden.
Zeekr packed the X fanatically, but that was not actually necessary. The brand itself has already shown the car without stickers. The Zeekr X will be placed on the SEA platform, a basis that is or will be used by the Smart #1 and the aforementioned Volvo EX30. Technical specifications of the electric model have not yet been officially communicated, but AutoWeek could tell you everything about it earlier. For example, we know that the Zeekr X will be 4.45 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and 1.57 meters high. Its wheelbase is the same as that of the Smart #1, but the Zeekr X is almost 20 centimeters longer than the Smart. In any case, it will get a version in China with two electric motors with a total of 428 hp. There will also be a 272 hp rear-wheel drive variant. We also expect similar specifications for the Volvo EX30.
