On to Europe
Zeekr gradually gives more information about the X, a compact electric crossover that is also coming to Europe. We have not yet seen the interior of the Zeekr X, but that will change immediately.
Like Volvo, Lynk & Co and Lotus, Zeekr is one of the many brands that the Chinese giant Geely has in its portfolio. Unlike the cars from Lynk & Co, Volvo and Lotus, those from Zeekr are not for sale in Europe. Not yet, at least. Zeekr is also coming to Europe and the brand new Zeekr X is likely to be the brand’s first car to come to our part of the world. Zeekr has already shown the appearance of the X and now we also know how the interior of the Zeekr X is designed.
With its frameless doors, angular shapes and stubborn nose and buttocks, the Zeekr X is a fairly original appearance, and the electric crossover also tries to distinguish itself with its interior. Just look at the buttons for operating the electric windows, the copper-colored ‘hook’ on the inside of the B-pillar for hanging your coat or the storage compartment above the driver’s door. In addition, Zeekr seems to give the X interesting door panels, complete with a push button to open the door, a perforated panel and the image of a city skyline. Nice urban. Behind the steering wheel is a small digital instrument panel and in the center of the dashboard we find a spacious 14-inch horizontally oriented infotainment screen. Behind the screens is a trim piece with copper-colored accents that runs the entire width of the cockpit.
The Zeekr X is 4.45 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and 1.57 meters. The wheelbase is 2.75 meters. The distance between the front and rear axles is exactly the same as on the Smart #1. That’s not surprising. The Zeekr X will be a sister model of the Smart #1 and the Volvo EX30 announced for this year. All three use Geely’s SEA platform. In any case, the Zeekr X will be available with two combined 428 hp electric motors and as a rear-wheel drive with a single 272 hp electric motor. The Smart #1 has a 66 kWh battery, so we also expect such a package in the Zeekr X (and the Volvo EX30).
