Not yet at your destination, but the battery of your electric car is almost empty and there is no charging station nearby? No problem. At least, not when it comes to ZipCharge. The company comes up with what can best be described as an electric car power bank and plug-ins.

In the Netherlands we are blessed with a good charging infrastructure for electric cars, but not everywhere you can charge your electric car on practically every street corner. Glasgow-based ZipCharge has come up with a solution. The company presents a portable battery pack with which you can recharge your electric car anywhere and everywhere for just that little bit of extra range.

ZipCharge calls its ‘power bank’ for electric cars ‘Go’ and prides itself on having the world’s first mobile charging station. The Go is expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of next year and comes in various flavors. There will be a version with a 4 kWh, but also a variant with 8 kWh of capacity. The maximum charging power with which the Go, resembling a trolley, pushes its stored energy into your car, is 7.2 kW. Do you think the Go is an ugly thing, or does it simply not match the color of your car? No problem either, ZipCharge says that the front of the Go can be completely adjusted to personal wishes.

What should the Go cost? ZipCharge will keep that under wraps for now. The company does indicate that in the United Kingdom you can also take out a subscription to the Go for which you pay €57 per month.
