Electric Cadillac Lyriq unveiled

Cadillac has pulled the curtain on its very first electric car. It is immediately special. This is the Cadillac Lyriq, the production version of the 2020 concept car of the same name, which it resembles like two drops of water.

Cadillac launched full electrification with the Lyriq Concept in 2020. The brand already indicated that a production version of the study model would eventually come, but that it would probably resemble the conceptual precursor, no one had probably thought. The Cadillac Lyriq only deviates in detail from the quite striking Lyriq Concept.

The Cadillac Lyriq is a five-meter long SUV with a wheelbase of 3.09 meters, within a few millimeters. The 2,545-pound behemoth stands on General Motors’ Ultium Platform, a base it also folds under the new GMC Hummer. In the bottom of the Lyriq is a 100 kWh battery from which a relatively modest 347 hp and 440 Nm strong electric motor gets its zest for life. The Cadillac Lyriq is 483 kilometers away on one charge, according to Cadillac, although the brand says it is still waiting for the official EPA figures. The maximum charging power is 190 kW.

That the Lyriq is completely 2021, the car proves not only with its extravagant appearance. The interior is also completely high-tech. Cadillac, which only wants to sell electric cars from 2030, gives the Lyriq an immense 33-inch curved display, Active Noise Canceling and Super Cruise is also available. The latter system allows the Lyriq to circulate autonomously to a certain extent. Cadillac will open the order books for the Lyriq in September this year, with the first copies to be delivered in the middle of next year. The starting price? Converted to € 49,980 … It is not yet known whether and when the Lyriq will also be available in Europe.
