Electric Jaguar XJ in the picture

The i-Pace will not be the only electric model from Jaguar for long. In Convetry, England, a lot of work has been done in recent years on a completely new generation XJ, a car that gets a fully electric power train!

The last copies of the band’s XJ rolled in mid-last year, a model that enters history books as the last non-electrified XJ. The new generation will be provided with a fully electric power train. The first test specimens have now been photographed.

The electric XJ is being developed by the same team that was responsible for the creation of the i-Pace, the first EV from Jaguar. The arrival of an electric XJ seems remarkable; after all, no major versions of large top sedans have appeared on the market. That will change soon. Mercedes-Benz comes with the EQS, an electric equivalent of the S-class, and with the i7, BMW has a 7-series battery variant in the development rooms. Incidentally, the question is whether Jaguar also puts combustion engines on the delivery list of the new XJ, for the time being only talking about the arrival of the EV variant.

The carriage of the new XJ is still completely covered with camouflage material, although we can already see that the car gets sunk handles in the doors and it seems that a large part of the nose consists of a grille-like whole. The XJ has a strongly sloping roofline and a relatively short-looking tailgate. It is not inconceivable that Jaguar transforms the model into a liftback. We will see the new XJ in full glory before the end of the year.

Like its predecessor, the battery XJ will soon be built in Castle Bromwich (Birmingham). It is not the only electrified car that the British have on the agenda. From 2020 an electrified version of every Land Rover and Jaguar must be available. Please note that this does not always concern fully electric versions; Also hybrids, plug-in hybrids and mild-hybrid powertrains are included.
