Fine grinding at detailed level
As a car manufacturer, you normally do good business with compact crossovers, but the Volkswagen T-Cross does not know how to become a huge sales success in the Netherlands, at least in the Netherlands. Is this facelifted version going to change that?
Last year, 1,558 copies of the Volkswagen T-Cross were registered in our country. This means that the small crossover performs about as well as cars such as the Skoda Fabia and Leon. Within the Volkswagen ranks, the T-Cross had to replace the Polo (5,629 units), the T-Roc (3,266 units), the ID4 (2,878 units), the Golf (2,607 units), Tiguan (2,164 units), the Taigo (2,123 units ) and the ID3 (1,948 units) ahead of them. Striking, compact hatchbacks and their crossover derivatives such as the Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross, Peugeot 208 and 2008, Renault Clio and Captur and the Opel Corsa and Mokka are much closer together in the sales lists. Volkswagen is now preparing a facelift for the T-Cross that should make the model completely up to date again.
Does the appearance of the five-year-old T-Cross not appeal to you? Then we don’t expect you to drop everything from your hands to sprint to the Volkswagen dealer when the new T-Cross is available. The changes that Volkswagen is making on its compact crossover are on the modest side. The T-Roc gets a new grille and Volkswagen gives the car new bumpers. It is striking that this test copy has differently filled taillights than a previously captured test copy.
The fact that the renewed T-Cross is increasingly shaking off camouflage material may indicate that the unveiling of the facelifted Volkswagen is not long in coming.
