stark contrast
In light of this morning’s Rotterdam news, we don’t want to deprive you of the GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali Ultimate unveiled today. That car guarantees a considerable contrast between the American and European market. To the latter of those two, everything about a pickup of this size is completely irrelevant, but as a collection of numbers, the Denali Ultimate is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
In the GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali Ultimate, the American manufacturer of SUVs and pick-ups combines all its knowledge and expertise in the field of luxury and (off-road) towing capabilities. As of today, it is the largest, most equipped pick-up the brand has to offer. That means that the truck in question not only has everything from massage seats to a 12-speaker Bose sound system and a 15-inch large infotainment screen on board, but also carries a considerable weight.
1,322 Nm torque
The ultimate variant is the 3500HD 4WD DRW, the latter of which stands for double rear wheel: double rear tires so. GMC equips that version as desired with a naturally aspirated 6.6-liter V8 that can run on petrol and E85, or with a turbo diesel with the same displacement and the same number of cylinders. The latter is with a power of 476 hp at 2,800 rpm and 1,322 (!) Nm of torque at 1,600 rpm the daddy, which sends the mountains of torque to both axles via a 10-speed automatic transmission. The required diesel is stored in the Sierra HD in a 136 liter tank.
The whole has – if equipped with crew cab and the long body – a wheelbase of almost 4.4 meters, is almost 6.8 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. In addition, the car weighs up to 3,740 kg, which means that you are not allowed to drive the pick-up in the Netherlands with a regular passenger car license. This is especially true if you appeal to the maximum towing capacity: it is more than 14,000 kg. The Denali Ultimate with double air can be heavily loaded up to 2,592 kg. In total you can travel with this GMC with a combination of up to 20,000 kg. And the average Rotterdam parking space is indeed too small for that. Although you will also have to know what you are doing in the United States, before you de highways sends on.
